Haha, I did notice that they just repeated that they didn't want anyone to die, rather than ensuring there wouldn't be any trials or anything like that. I do hope they're a little better prepared for handling bodies than they seem to be.
[Even the grim reaper didn't seem accustomed to death??]
Mmhm. Could be a perfectly reasonable reaction to being pressed by a group of angry strangers, could also be a sign of nefarious intent. I'm not sure which would be worse, honestly... Probably the former.
[Because then they'd be less prepared for all the MURDER AHEAD... He sighs, grabbing hold of one of the rabbit's ears to play with.]
Hah! Oh, the hosts themselves were fine, yes. But they had absolutely no idea that they were being shepherded around by demons the entire time, so we weren't able to help them and they weren't able to help us.
[He says this with a smile, but it's only so he doesn't have to think about how much he wants to supermurder demons.]
What about you? How lucky or unlucky did your group end up being?
A well-intentioned host who does their best is certainly much better than some of the other things people had to deal with! And you made it out at the end, yes?
[He doesn't even know but he's just assuming at this point that literally everyone else did but them. WHEW.]
[He hesitates for a second, and the smile he offers is a little thin. Leave it to Taako to not tell his friend he ended up super fuckin murdered!!]
They went very poorly, yes! Very bad, very bad. I believe we were the only group who wasn't able to return with our dead. We were up against truly insidious creatures.
[And when the guy who invented necromancy in his world says that, he Means It.]
I'm glad it wasn't like that for anyone else, at least. Ah - even if we all seem to have bad luck in ending up roped in for a second round so soon, hah.
Hah, you're not wrong about that! Though I'd have preferred it if our good luck didn't coincide with the loss of so many other people's good luck, you know? Seems a little unfair.
[But he sure ain't looking a gift horse in the mouth, either. He's not about to waste this opportunity to reverse engineer a way back to stdemon island.]
[He is a fan of big buff men with big bara hearts and just ends up laughing.]
Wonderful news, then! We have the same aim, in that case. I can't say I enjoy being pushed around by untouchable godly forces, but there's nothing to do in those cases except continue to push back until you find their breaking point, yes?
[Not even losing to stdemons can keep a Wei Wuxian down for long.]
Have you done that before, out of curiosity? Just- [Makes a vague punching motion in the air, careful not to disturb these buns.] -punched an untouchable god body until they gave up? Or died.
[He's heard some shit from Taako and wouldn't put this outside of the realm of very distinct possibility...]
And I thought once was more than enough! How in the world do you keep managing to come back? Actually, more important, how do you keep ending up in situations that lead to your death!?
[Laughing? It's fine. He's not too bothered by it? It's fine.]
Well, eleven of those were when we got stuck in a time loop, so we just reset. Then there's the one where Taako dragged me back, and the one where I died and went to the murder game afterlife.
The rest of 'em were when we were on this spaceship that was hopping across dimensions? But we happened to get attacked right as we were taking off? So it kinda glitched and every year for a hundred years it just reset. So if we died during that year, no problem! At the end of the year we just kinda respawned.
[This is so much, even for him. He blinks owlishly and then just slowly nods.]
I see... Well, to be honest, I think I'm going to have to chew on that a little bit more before I can really see! Time loops and hopping across dimensions and things like that were entirely unknown to me before I ended up on that boat, hah. Where I come from, people typically stay dead the first time they die, unless they're undead.
[Or end up brought back in the twink body of their brother-in-law's half-brother.]
No! Uh - there is a death jail, we've seen what happens when there's a death breakout. But that's not what happens to everybody or anything. Just the uh, real violent ghost types.
I dunno what happens to most people, but I gotta think they go somewhere nice.

[Scratching at his neck.]
Not that I'm thrilled they put us through all that! But they were doing what they thought they had to to get us brought back to life.

[Pausing a bit.]
Taako didn't tell me how things worked out with you guys. So I assume bad!

[For obvious Taako reasons, but also, he just feels strongly?]
If we can help everybody who got left behind there, then you can count on me for that, too!

Exactly! We'll just keep trying to hit them in their untouchable god bodies until they give up.

[So. Maybe not great.]
Guess it's more like I punch them to buy time while the wizards figure out what to do? But I have punched some pretty big boys.

...You seem to be partial to death, friend! How many times is it that you've died before, exactly?
no subject
[Thinking about it for a second?]
Thirty two, I think, but don't quote me on it.
