I think Lili had a way to fake the bees after all. I didn't think about it at the time, but now that we aren't so stressed out. . .

[he trails off]

But. . . I don't know. She might have had a way to fake them, but that still doesn't answer the question of whether the footprints were legitimate or not. If they weren't, then her being able to fake the bees doesn't matter at all.

[Ugh. Hmm. He can tell Akira is probably dancing around a power. So.]

Maybe. Footprints didn't go down to the garden, though. So she would've had to leave and get back without leaving tracks.

But if that expands the footprint suspect list to Lili and Escha, my feeling's are the same. If either of them did it, all it means is there must have been a good reason why.

[yeah, he isn't giving any more than that. for Lili's sake]

. . . yeah. I trust her. [and he means that honestly] She warned Yin Yu and I in advance so we didn't accidentally scapegoat Dick, so. . . she has good intentions. I believe that.

Earlier on in the week she told me that if she ever seemed suspicious at trial to push her as hard as I could, because it meant that if she killed someone. . . she did so in self defense.

[another pause]

But you're also right that the footprints didn't lead to the garden, so. . . [he just shrugs a little helplessly]

You shouldn't tell me her power, but - just saying, some people were speculating some kinda animal control could've been involved with the bear, but we discounted that. Could be a lot of ways to fake bees besides that, but just putting it out there.

[Just in case. He still doesn't look that concerned, though.]

I trust Lili, too.

[a tiny little sigh and he rests his elbow on his knee and his chin in his hands]

I wish I would've thought of it during the trial.

She would've appreciated me keeping my promise.

[he wonders, then, if she's a bit disappointed in him for not trying harder]

Maybe. But unless she actually did it, and can't say anything about it at all, I feel like if she was disappointed she'd tell you to your face.

Well, you're right about that. It's one thing I appreciate about her.
