[Magnus is skulking around near the Livehouse, and happens to spot Sinbad. He's making a beeline for him, looking serious and checking that he's alone.]

[He looks up as he heard the voice, having a bottle of rum he managed to acquire somewhere but have yet to open]

Sure... what about?

[Sinbad's brows raised, a touch cautious]

You know. The trial? That whole mess. You wanna go somewhere more private? Just wanna talk, though. Nothing messy.

[Putting his hands up to show he means no harm!]

[He considers, and hitches a shoulder up before he stands, Magnus was many things - but he never struck Sinbad as being deceptive]

Yeah, I can talk.

[He grabs to bottle as so not to misplace it, gesturing that he'll follow]

[Sure. If Magnus wanted to axe you, he'd be loud about it. Wandering off to a more secluded area of the Livehouse. Once there, leaning on the wall.]

So, here's my deal. Someone killed Ranpo, with icicles. And whoever did it, feel like I kind of went out on a limb for them at trial, telling people not to vote for them. That was my choice, not anyone else's, and no one owes me for it. But I based that on a guess that whoever killed him was an ally, and now I need to know if that's true. You get me?

[He looks over at the much taller man, up and down - examining his body language, before he uncorks the bottle, taking a long, slow swig before he answers]

Well, I'm afraid I can't help you there. I was asleep until the alarm went off, so whoever it was, they didn't go to me for help.

[He bit his lower lip for a moment, thinking]

Either they think I'm not reliable, or that I wouldn't do it even against a reaper.

Seems like you're used to people thinking you're not reliable. Would they be right? That you wouldn't do it even against a reaper?

[Watching him, but he doesn't seem that tense. Just, curious.]

[He laughs, it's not bitter, then there's a look of nostalgia]

I know I can be lazy, and I get my ear chewed out for skipping work... though, against a reaper...

I'm still not sure, I'm the insane idiot who invited a bunch of assassins out for my blood to join me instead of letting them die... I suppose if it's a matter of my life or theirs, or that of a friend, I might, let's just say I still got a few things from my life that's hanging over my head.

Yeah. I feel the same. I don't know if the Reapers are good or bad, and I'd rather get along with people than kill 'em most of the time, but their job in this game is to kill all of us or be erased. We can't exactly afford to ignore that. Anyway, nothing wrong with being lazy and having fun as long as you know how to get it together when it counts, right?

[Sighing, chewing on his lip like he's mulling this over.]

Thing that bugs me about it is, there's a lot of people who think icicle guy is Yusuke. And a lot of those people think we made a mistake, letting him walk away from that trial. Since we don't know what our ice man's motives are, they're thinking it's not safe to leave him alive.

I don't think it's him either, it's strange for me to think that - as it makes sense that if it's not me, it has to be him. I might be overthinking it, but it just seemed a little too obvious that it has to be ice magic.

[He wipes the top of the bottle, and offers a swig]

Well, it means we'll have to prove it that Newt was too hasty in assuming it has to be us, and make sure someone isn't going to get stupid over the week.

[ruffboi]

Yeah, sure.

[He takes the bottle, takes a long swig, and sets it down on a convenient table top with a loud clink.]

Hey, Sinbad (No Last Name)? Sinbad, my man? You're a funny man, Sinbad, and I stand by Jingle All the Way, but it's time for us to stop fucking around. I can prove to you I'm not Reaper, but I need you to give me something to work with.

[conquerorofwaves]

[He wonders how Magnus pronounced the parenthesis, but he's not quite tipsy enough for that. At the proclamation, he straightens up]

All right, so what do you want me to do? I did say what I do know, which unfortunately isn't much.

[ruffboi]

I want you to tell me the truth. Are you the Midnight Icer? Did you have anything to do with what happened to Ranpo?

If you tell me the truth, I can help you.

[conquerorofwaves]

[He sighs, and shook his head]

Sorry - I had nothing to do with his death, though all you really have is my word saying that.

[His shoulders slumped]

[ruffboi]

[Blowing out a breath of air. This is frustrating.]

Yeah. Okay. Well. If I can't talk to the Ice Man, I can't assume he's an ally. So - next time he's on the chopping block, I'm not going out of my way for him.

You know, I was thinking... couldn't someone freeze something icicle-like and use psychokinesis? Or on the Rukh, even asked the Composer to get them icicles... That might be another possibility to look into.

They're stretches I'll admit, but I'll see what I can figure out about what really happened. When I'm in the spotlight, I rather have it on me because I'm performing, not because I fell under suspicion for something I didn't do.

[ruffboi]

Sure, sure, sure. I'm no scientist, really. Coulda been done a lot of ways.

[Shoving his hands in his pocket and standing up.]

Well, I'd better be on my way. If you come up with any other ideas about our Ice Man, though, come find me.

The trick is figuring which one - the simple answer isn't always the right one with this crowd.

[He waves as Magnus takes off, and goes to resume drinking in a more public area]
