[ poor mud-covered flayn... anyway, phoenix is just gonna stray crouched so flayn can get him. they're well-trained, they know when to take headpats. ]
Problem is, there's something in the lake that doesn't like it being used as a disposal system....
Yeah, no shit! Here, I can do one too. Flayn, tomorrow - [Giving her a serious look.] - better expect the unexpected. Stuff will definitely be things, Flayn.
Taako and Escha. And we all said our weird thing at the same time on the count of three, so - keep that in mind, Flayn. Always keep your eyes on the prize. Or else the cat will really be out of the bag.
[Hmm.]
I feel like we'll do better, though. We won't be making the mistake of looking for somebody we think is the murder type.
[she nods. eyes on the prize, indeed - they should definitely do their best this time.
although... her expression falls and she looks down at the ground.]
...there are not many of us left who are the "murder type," anyway. We shall have to consider people no matter how unlikely we believe they are to kill.
We followed it, but by the end, we were guessing whether any of our suspects would kill somebody. Don't think that was the right call. We don't know the reasons why somebody would decide to kill. It might've been something we didn't guess.
I wonder if... perhaps, rather than simply looking at what there is, and theorizing once we hear about it, it might be worth attempting to recreate some of the evidence when we investigate.
[she gestures at the drag marks]
For example, if we are able to create marks like this in the sand tomorrow, we will have a much more concrete idea of how they were left, will we not?

[ hey guys!! look like phoenix had the same idea ]

and then she turns toward phoenix and goes on her tiptoes to try and pat his head too.]
I wish killers would leave the lake alone. [SIGHS!! think of the poor fish.]
no subject
[Weird. Evan is digging, too. Though when Flayn headpats him, he turns around and sits up to headpat her back, with his dirty dirty lake hands. Bad.
And then when he sees her trying to pat Phoenix, hoisting her up with his dirty nasty hands to pat him.]
no subject
[ he notices flayn trying to pat him and immediately crouches down to allow it, wincing a little for some reason. ]
[ but now she's too high to reach him... ]
no subject
no subject
Yeah, seems like? Though it makes sense! If you're going to get rid of a body, lake is right up there with throwing it off a cliff.
no subject
Problem is, there's something in the lake that doesn't like it being used as a disposal system....
[ also a shark sometimes? but not this week. ]
There was definitely some dragging going on.
no subject
anyway, she frowns and takes a closer look at the marks.]
...they are apart from each other - were two things dragged here? Or was one thing dragged twice?
no subject
no subject
[ he rubs at his face, then flinches. ]
But we'll probably have to wait to investigate further, if memory serves. ]
no subject
[Digging a hole in the dirt with his bare hands! Why!]
But it's probably nothing - I'm just Friday cursed to do this! Which makes me think we'll find a body somewhere bad, huh?
no subject
[(flayn voice) wtf is a heelie
anyway, she follows the drag mark from where it begins to where it ends, trying to get a feel for how long it is]
...I hope that will not be the case, but - where did you sleep?
no subject
Best to be prepared for anything, tomorrow.
no subject
[Looking up at Phoenix, and snorting.]
Yeah, no shit! Here, I can do one too. Flayn, tomorrow - [Giving her a serious look.] - better expect the unexpected. Stuff will definitely be things, Flayn.
no subject
[stuff will definitely be things, indeed.]
We shall all do our best tomorrow. I... we cannot have another repeat of last week.
no subject
[ to magnus... ]
Just make sure to think outside the box.
[ stuff will definitely be things ]
Think we'll be more on the ball, yeah.
[ they have to be ]
no subject
[Hmm.]
I feel like we'll do better, though. We won't be making the mistake of looking for somebody we think is the murder type.

although... her expression falls and she looks down at the ground.]
...there are not many of us left who are the "murder type," anyway. We shall have to consider people no matter how unlikely we believe they are to kill.
no subject
[ to magnus, re: the mysterious mentor metaphors!!! ]
Considering what's apparently at stake.... we need to follow the evidence, nor our hearts, for this one.
[ ... ]
Poor Taako, though. Can't imagine he'll be happy about the digging compulsions.
no subject
[and it steered them wrong :c which she hates]
Perhaps if Taako goes somewhere there is nothing to dig through, it will be easier?
no subject
[Anyway.]
Taako's umbrella got all dirty.
no subject
[ since by the end, we didn't even know what we were looking at... ]
That's a shame.
no subject
[she gestures at the drag marks]
For example, if we are able to create marks like this in the sand tomorrow, we will have a much more concrete idea of how they were left, will we not?
no subject
[. . . ]
Last week was bad enough, but messing up two weeks in a row, shit's gonna hit the fan. And I'm not just making fun of Phoenix when I say that.
no subject
[ phoenix nods to magnus. ]
We can't mess around.
no subject
[she knows she won't!!]
We will have to make the most of the time we have.
